Crafty little things...

A very simple shadowbox with vacation and wedding pics. The scientist isn't a big fan of SUPER crafy, so I'm doing things up pretty simply. Valentine decoration for the fridge. Just fun foam, HS letters, some leftover embellishments from other things. Still LOVE those sparkly buckles!

Kitchen: After

My tile. I love it so much, and it was totally fun to do. The chochkes on top of the cupboards will be gone as soon as I find somewhere else for them!
They are the remnants of "bachelor house." :)
Oh, yeah. As soon as the new microwave is installed the white vent hood will be gone! I have grout left to do on the tile. Maybe I won't think it's so fun after that?

Scrapbooking. What's "funner" than that?!

A few pages I did at Friday night's crop. My apologies for the craptastic photos--better ones next time. I included a detail photo from my favorite page--the wedding one. Love using '&' on my pages and cards.
Look! There's no black and white on the "girlfriends" page, you guys. ;)

Day 1 of the Pedometer

So, there's this big fitness campaign at my school right now, and a bunch of us signed up. You earn points for keeping track of your steps, water you drink, the amount of veggies you eat...you know, healthy choices. In the end, the points can earn you a t-shirt. We got the pedometers today (for free), and we immediately put them on. I've been checking mine all day. Here's me: "1500 steps! Wow! Good for me! Woo, hoo!"

Then I went to the bathroom. Going to the bathroom garnered me 13 steps. No, not walking TO the bathroom. GOING. yeah.

15oo steps isn't so impressive now, is it?

The Sarcastic Snowman and the Hovercraft

Yes, dear readers, the title speaks true. We have created BOTH of these works of genious in our very own home. Sonja's project, the "sarcastic snowman" turned out quite nice. It is clearly spouting sarcasm because his sign says, "Oh, Sure!" But...to be quite certain that noone would misinterpret his comment, we added a little sign that says, "I'm sarcastic." :)

Sophia's science fair project is a hovercraft. She and Scott made it; the dang thing can lift over 300 pounds! It's just a circle of wood, some plastic, electrical tape and staples...and a leaf blower. It's pretty cool. I did not ride on it because then I would have had to reveal my weight. We're not talking driver's license weight, people! It's for science, so I'd HAVE to be honest.

The Orphanage

The Orphanage is fantastic. See this movie! It's a good, old-fashioned, spooky ghost story. The subtitles are not difficult to follow, and it isn't stuffed full of gore and blood.

Basic plot: a woman, raised in an orphanage, returns there with her husband and child to open a residence for special needs children. Her own child begins to experience strange things, and she unravels a mystery from the past.

Speaking of little things that turn the day around...

Seriously. How could you have a bad day if you look down and see these shoes on your feet? They look like scrapbook paper! Target...14.99.

Come on!

Redecorating!!!! :)

So, here's my family room and dining area. We just redecorated--still thinking about window treatments and the like, but, holy cow, I love it. We now have comfy seating in that room, so we can all watch TV together...at the same time. How's that for fantastic?! The TV wall is tan and the window wall and dining area are olive green. The frames are IKEA with cutie scrapbook paper in the opening and felt embellishments. Appliances are being delivered on the 26th, and countertops will be in before that. I'll be tiling a backsplash next weekend. If you hear cursing, it's me...

My Sistas at Disneyland

I TOTALLY love these gals! Susan, Amanda, and Charleen are my bestest teaching buddies from Independence. Miss them like crazy, but we do get out for some crazy girl time...and corndogs and Monte Cristo sandwiches...and getting trapped on Pirates. We did Disneyland so hard that we could barely crawl back to the hotel--we were asleep by 9 pm!

I've got to scrapbook our recent trip (Dec. 2007) in order to commemorate, among other things, my Gene Wilder hair, the HSM show, CA Screamin' (just as funny pic this year!), the cold weather, eating on the patio in the cold just because we planned on the patio. So, so, so fun...

Best part of teaching...

Lord of the Flies. I had no idea what a great book this is. Never had to read it in school and just never bothered to pick it up. I have so much work to do, and all I want to do is read this book! Right now is my favorite part of this school year--reading LOTF with my on-level sophomores and reading A Tale of Two Cities with my Pre AP kids. I am in HEAVEN.

I'll be wearing my "vote for Piggy" shirt any day now.

The only thing that could make it better is if I could involve scrapbooking in some way! :)

Personality Test - Here's me. :)

You Are Rowlf the Dog
Mellow and serious, you enjoy time alone cultivating your talents.
You're a cool dog, and you always present a relaxed vibe.
A talented pianist, you can play almost anything - especially songs by Beethoven.
"My bark is worse than my bite, and my piano playing beats 'em both."

Try it and let me know who you are!

Brrrrrrrrr!!!!

Seriously! Who knew it would be so cold in Tucson?! Went on a hike in shirt-sleeves yesterday, and this morning there's some "frost on the punkin," that's for sure! Getting ready for a day of Lord of the Flies with my sophomores...hope it goes well.

Final "drop-in" evaluation took place today during 3rd hour. It was an administrative eval. and seemed to go pretty well. The kids were into the novel, and asked lots of questions. At least nobody farted this time! :)

Man, where has the week gone?! Thursday already...and so much to get done.

Hello!

Welcome to my blog! I'm hoping to post photographs, updates on job/family, scrapbook pages, cards and the like here. We are remodeling our home, so those stories will flow soon, too!
